“Aww, that’s so cute!” We all know that there are some dogs out there that just make you feel all bubbly inside. Then of course we are overwhelmed with the want to hug the dog. Even the toughest person in the world will admit a certain dog is cute, but what makes a dog “cute?”
Although cuteness may seem random at first, there are some characteristics that stand out when examining what’s cute and what’s not. One of the more obvious traits of a cute dog is the smallness. There are not too many cute Huskies walking around. This of course also makes puppies on top of the cute list. Some other traits shared by cute dogs are the large eyes and fluffy fur. For some reason, the larger the eyes are and the more resemblance to a pillow, the dog is cuter to us. However, the human conception of cute is much more complex then a few simple traits.
Even a dog with all the mentioned traits might not seem cute sometimes. It is realized that how we judge how cute a dog is depends largely on the mood of the dog. We associate dogs to be cuter when it’s sleepy, ears are down, and seems to be crying. This may come from the resemblance of a baby. Why we think babies are cute is a whole different question.
There are some breeds of dogs that are considered cuter than others. These dogs are typically small. These breeds include: Pit Bulls, Chihuahuas, Pugs, and Bull Dogs.
However even with these shared traits, cute dogs are still a personal preference. Some people might prefer other types of dogs then others. If you think your dog is cute and possesses these characteristics, then you’ve come to the right place. Take a picture of your dog and post here at www.cuteornot.org. Who knows? Your dog might just make it to the list of top dogs.
